Suicide First Aid

Whilst suicide in the actual workplace is rare, more than 2/3 of people who die from suicide are in employment. So the workplace offers a unique opportunity to reach people who need extra support and create supportive environments.

The role of the Workplace

The role of the Workplace

With one third of our lives spent at work, it is highly likely that there will be people in the workplace struggling to cope – and possibly trying to hide it.

Organizations are increasingly seeking to give people the confidence to step forward, ask for help, and equip their managers and leaders with suicide first aid skills to respond.

We offer suicide first aid training for organisations, teaching attendees effective suicide intervention skills which they can apply, whether that's in a workplace or personal situation. Suicide first aid training also helps raise awareness of what is often a taboo subject.

Research in 2021* showed that 18% of women experiencing, or transitioning to, menopause were looking to leave their job because of their symptoms.

The most common reason cited in a 2020 piece of research** was the pressures put on them (42%), followed by a lack of flexibility needed to manage their symptoms (39%) and lack of understanding from management (39%).

The Alarming Stat's.

1 in 5 adults experience suicidal feelings at some point in their lives. Every 107 minutes a person dies by suicide in England.

That’s around 5,000 people per year. The impact is multiplied across their families and friends, but also colleagues and whole organisations.
